Easy weekend trips offering the much – needed escape

Easy weekend trips offering the much-needed escapeWinter months are dreary that people start literally hankering for April, the spring, for a vacation. Whether you want a calm countryside or a city bustle, there are easy weekend trips offering the desired escape. Here are few jaunts with activities worth considering:

Toronto, Canada
Are you planning to spend in a metropolis few days, but if you desire to stay away from the Miami and New York crowds, reach Toronto. This is a city that is becoming hip. For vintage shopping, visit the Kensington Market and visit a burgeoning neighborhood, The Junction that features bars and cool coffee shops. At night, try the Spanish tapas joint. Arts and culture aficionados can take to Queen Street West for a graffiti tour or swing at Bata Shoe Museum that has the largest collections of footwear.

Palm Springs, CA
This is certainly a destination of choice in April for music fans. This is because Stagecoach and Coachella take over for three weekends the area throughout the month. The advantage is that you do not need a festival pass in springtime to enjoy the desert. You can find plenty of free Coachella parties going around the areas of Indio and Palm Springs, besides the weather is truly hot to enjoy by the pool a cocktail. For dinner, visit the Lulu or Jake’s and the chic Mister Parker’s located in the Parker Palm Springs is also a lovely choice. Conversely, the truth cannot be denied that the Palm Springs Art Museum is really grand and engaging.

Washington, D.C.
Visitors arrive at the nation’s capital every spring for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. It is a beautiful festival commemorating the trees seasonal blooming surrounding the Tidal Basin. There are lots around the city beyond this festival to watch and visit such as Smithsonian museums and also the national monuments. In the noon, wandering through the Dupont Circle offers a great pleasure and in the evening catch at 9:30 Club a concert. For cocktails do visit the Columbia Room.

Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix is the right choice for baseball fans. This is the time the MLB teams will be having the annual spring training as a season preparation. The Cactus League will have daily games in ballparks all around the city. People less sport-inclined need not be disappointed as Phoenix has lots in store for you as well such as the Desert Botanical Garden and regional hiking. When you are hungry, proceed to Short Leash Hot Dogs or Southern Rail that provides the best brunch fare. Drinking spots are in plenty, all you have to do is pull up a stool at Windsor or Crudo at the day end.

Guadalajara, Mexico
In Mexico, avoid the Oceanside resorts; instead, go to the art-centric Guadalajara city for a weekend. It takes very few hours to reach from most U.S cities.  To enjoy a relaxed restaurant, book at Hueso a table and head to Fat Charlie that is the first speakeasy cocktail bar in the city. In the daytime, want through Palacio de Gobierno and historic cathedral. If you love adventure, take a car on rent and go to Tequila Valley on a two-hour trip and you get to visit distilleries of tequila.
